Ross grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. He studied Industrial Engineering at Stellenbosch University, where he was first exposed to machine learning and data-driven decision making. This led him to pursue his Master's in engineering and data science where his research was focused on swarm intelligence. Before joining Activant in 2025, Ross spent 2.5 years at FirstRand working across algorithmic trading, credit risk research and machine learning engineering, and a year at FNZ in WealthTech. Outside of work, you'll find Ross outside - either in the mountains or on the beach.
